RT. REV. DR. E.H. BREW RIVERSON was born on Monday 15th July 1929 in Cape Coast. He has 10 siblings of whom 7 are deceased. He began primary school at age 6 years from 1935-1937 in Cape Coast Ghana West Africa, and then continued 1937-1940 in Kumasi, Ghana-West Africa. From 1940-1944 he attended primary and middle school standard 3-7 at the Methodist school, Winneba in Ghana-West Africa where his father was the headmaster and Organist and Choirmaster of the local Methodist church. Here in Winneba at age 11 he was also attending the local Methodist choir. From 1948 he attended Mfantsipim Boys Secondary School Ghana-West Africa.
He did Teacher Training at Wesley College, Kumasi and obtained a teachers certificate ‘A’. In 1952, he started teaching at Prempeh College in. From October 1952 until June 1957 he was at the University College of the Gold Coast. He passed his first Degree in Geography and started Graduate Teaching from July 1957 at Wesley College (A teacher training college) in Kumasi, Ghana-West Africa.
1958-1959 He went back to University of Ghana to pursue a post graduate Certificate of Education. He returned to Wesley College to teach Mathematics, English and Geography.
1961- He married Victoria in 1961 and had 6 children: 4 boys and 2 girls, the last one born in 1973.
1962 - In August, he went to the United States of America to pursue a 6 month International Teacher Development Program organised by the U.S Department of State. During those years he was the Senior Housemaster and Senior Education Tutor at Wesley College.
1963 - In October Mr. E H Brew Riverson was appointed the Principal of Wesley College, Kumasi.
1970 - Mr. Brew Riverson was elected Chairman of the National Teacher Training Council, Ghana.
1974 - Mr. Brew Riverson became a minister in the Methodist Church.
1976 - He was ordained as a minister in the Methodist Church in August.
1976 - Rev. Brew Riverson attended the Haggai Advanced Leadership Training Institute in Evangelism in Singapore from October to November.
1977-1979 He enrolled and completed Master of Arts in Yale Divinity School and was awarded a Doctor of Ministry in May, 1984 from Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia in the USA.
1985 - In March, he was transferred to Accra and was appointed Deputy Director General of the Ghana Education Service In April 1986.
1986 - 1993 In the church, he served as the Secretary of Conference in the Methodist Church, Ghana.
1987 - In October, he retired from the Ghana Education Service.
1993 - 1998 He served as Chairman and General Superintendent of the Sekondi District Methodist Church Ghana.
Until now Rt Rev Dr. E. H. Brew Riverson and Mrs. Victoria Brew Riverson have been living in Kumasi and stationed at the Wesley Cathedral Kumasi. Whenever they are in London they see their children and grandchildren as well as conduct teaching seminars with church groups. On 4th May, 2012 Rt. Rev. Dr. Brew Riverson was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters (Living Legend) by the Global Centre for Transformational Leadership.
